Hi All,I have been using ZDNet's Password Pro v2 for years and have a large collection of passwords stored within it's data file. When I tried installing it on a new PC with 64-bit Vista Ultimate, it refused to install. Tried every compatibility option; no luck. Searched the internet and managed to find v3.14 of the software; however, that install also failed (though with a different error message). It appears both versions or their installers may have 16-bit code and Vista 64 therefore refuses to install them.So I am in a big soup. Qs:1. Has anybody had success install either v2 or v3.14 on a 64-bit Vista PC? If so, could you share how you did it?2. Is there a more recent version of this software available anywhere? (I believe its no longer offered by PC Mag, even if you pay to become a downloading member)3. Does anyone know of any other program that can import the contents of the data file (.pwd extension)?I have spent all day trying to find a solution but have had no luck. All help appreciated. :teehee:

Tried every compatibility mode for the installer in Vista. None worked. Edited by ForeverLost

Create a shortcut to the apps .exe on the Desktop...Right clik the shortcut and adjust the compatibility mode settings there...Re-boot and try launching from the Desktop.

There is no "app"; it won't even install!! I have tried setting the compatibility modes for all .exe files that I see in the unzipped installer package, to no avail.

patio is referring to the installer itself. Save it someplace, create a shortcut to it, adjust the shortcut's compatibilty settings, reboot, try the shortcut to see if the app will now install. There may be further shortcuts needed once the install is run.

Here's an update:I downloaded and installed KeePass (http://keepass.info). Funny name, I know. Its an open source, light weight password manager; donations are accepted. It appears to be quite robust and can even run from a USB stick, making it truly portable. Besides, and very importantly, it has a host of plugins that expand its compatibility with other password programs, allowing import/export in various formats (not Password Pro, though). Oh, and it works on 64-bit Vista just fine. Over a couple of days, I manually copied over my passwords. Folks still using Password Pro should realize that they are locked into a proprietary (read incompatible) format, doesn't export, and which is now hopelessly out of date; sooner or later, they will need to migrate to another password manager. KeePass appears to be a sound choice. Happy computing!

Thanks for the update ForeverLost. I use a lot of old ZDNet utilities also and Password Pro especially.
