telecomguy9 Posted July 23, 2009 Posted July 23, 2009 Hello everyone. My wife has a DVD that she'd like to basically extract or record the audio from and make that audio available in mp3 or wma format so she can listen to the DVD on her mp3 player. It's not music; I think it's perhaps a lecture or something similar. What are the ways this can be done? Quote

It's not music; I think it's perhaps a lecture or something similar. What are the ways this can be done? There are some software that can capture any audio output and record it in various formats (e.g. MP3), but you may not get good quality depending on the software. The way I do that on my PC is to use Creative's software which came included when I purchased my Sound Blaster sound card. (See screenshot attached) Works great and the quality is excellent. You can purchase Sound Blaster sound cards for approximately $50. It's the equivalent of what you might pay for a specialized application. The upside is that you'll get a sound card plus the recording software. Quote
telecomguy9 Posted July 23, 2009 Author Posted July 23, 2009 Thanks for the idea. It's a good one. Quote

ImHB Posted July 24, 2009 Posted July 24, 2009 It sounds more like this is what you want to do: take data from a DVD and convert it to mp3 format to be played on an iPod - if that is so then here is a freeware program that will do just that for you. You can download it from this web site:http://www.any-video-converter.com Here is a short description of its features:Any DVD Converter can rip DVD, convert DVD movies and multimedia files from any supported format (including AVI, ASF, WMV, MOV, MPG, MPEG, MP4, DivX, FLV and more) for Apple iPod iPhone, Zune, PSP, Sony PS3 and other portable video devices, MP4 players and smart phones, such Nokia N-series cell phones, BlackBerry and Gphone. Any DVD Converter can also download online videos from YouTube, Google Video and Nico Video and convert them in one step. Video clips can be also merged into one file. Now you can convert and compress your multimedia files and watch them on the go!Hope this helps - I have used this program several times and it performs exactly as describes Quote

ImHB Posted July 24, 2009 Posted July 24, 2009 Glad I could help -- Make sure you scroll all the way down the web site page to the free version or go directly to this sitehttp://www.any-video-converter.com/products/for_video_free Quote
telecomguy9 Posted July 27, 2009 Author Posted July 27, 2009 Hey everyone, problem solved! I tried a number of options, but the only one that worked (and worked very easily might I add) was using a little program called PC Windows Speaker Record. Google it if you want to know what it does/how it works. Quote
