Frank Golden Posted June 25, 2009 Posted June 25, 2009 (edited) Hi Folks,Just installed the Portable version of Firefox 3.5 RC 2 to test. Nice.http://portableapps.com/apps/internet/firefox_portable/testI use the Portable versions of Firefox, T-Bird and Open Office because installation only requires creating a folder and installing to the folder. No registry entries etc.I usually place the folders on another NTFS partition from the one Win 7 or XP is on and create shortcuts to the executables.Once setup to my liking I create a copy of the folder and save it as a backup.Anyway most of my "addons and themes (90 %) work with the new Firefox and the new Firefox seems quick and slick. The latest Flash plugin is installed by default as well as java, quicktime and real player and many more.CBS, ABC, NBC videos work out of box as well as HULU and VEOH. Frank Golden Posted June 25, 2009 Author Posted June 25, 2009 Hey Frank,If you want to try 3.5 (or 3.6) in Ubuntu, info HERE . Thank You Urmas, Works great. Doesn't interfere with my 3.0.0.11 version in any way. Can't use the Google toolbar but that's OK.No launcher is created but the executable is located at /usr/lib/firefox-3.5/firefox-3.5Simply create application launcher using /usr/lib/firefox-3.5/firefox-3.5 as the command. Frank Golden Posted June 25, 2009 Author Posted June 25, 2009 I forgot to mention that if you are using intrepid or hardy, change the "jaunty" in the repo to the appropriate version. The GPG key shown seems to work with all versions. Quote
