Phoenix developing DRM enabled BIOS

This is very alarming. Such a bios couldn't function unless a DRM bios aware OS was present and the bios in theory could require the presence of such an OS before it could boot. Might make any third party OS like Linux not run. Might even make reinstalling a fresh copy of an OS hard as it would be difficult to load an OS on a blank hard drive if you can't boot the installer outside of some factory setting. Could drive the small white box shops out of the market.

Add Rights Management Services and Rights Management Client Access Licenses and what does it add up to? Palladium through the back door.

You mean now I am going to have to watch what motherboard I buy to make sure it does not have a BIOS chip with this "stuff" in it. <<sorry but stuff is as strong as I can type even if it does not do it justice. >>
