Ok this is what I want to do. I want to hide the recycle bin and to do that I know you have to go into the group policy editor. And go under User Configuration > Administrative Templates > > Windows Components> Desktopand there should be an option to hide or unhide the recycle bin. Yet it isn't there.I went here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/555218and they explained how to Snap some of the .DLL's back into the gpedit. I tried that and it didn't work. What I have under administrative templates under user configuration is just Search and Windows Media Player. When I went to the command prompt and typed in "regsvr32 gptext.dll" It did not add anything under user configuration BUT it added the folder Windows Update under the Computer Configuration in gpedit. My co-worker had the same problem and when he typed in "regsvr32 gptext.dll" he got a whole bunch of folders under Administrative Templates in both User and Computer configuration. So I tried to copy his gptext.dll from his machine to mine and tried to snap it back in and nothing helped. So does anyone else have some insight on this issue? I am running Windows XP SP2 with all the updates on it except for SP3.

Hello,Although I cannot think of a reason it would be required, did you try restarting the computer after re-registering all of the DLLs?Regards,Aryeh Goretsky

Thanks Temmu, I got it confused where exactly it was in group policys but regardless of that it still doesn't show up lol. I did try restarting after re registering the DLLs. I will also try the killbox method if it's safe. One other thing I will note. Before I copied my co workers gptext.dll I don't remember the exact version but mine was created and modified in 2006 and his was from 2004.
