FuzzButt
Well I guess George W. Bush is taking a tour of Africa starting today July 7th. Is it just me or is this a good thing to be doing for someone of such importance? I understand why he is going but don't understand why now? It just seems a bit risky given the unstability of the region. Washington Post editorial has some good info. Chris
jbredmound
Hear ya, FB! However, this trip has been long-planned, and dubya has put a lot of emphasis on the African continent (albeit overshadowed by the goings on elsewhere).Dubya not there to talk about Liberia and it's surrounding region, but about US aid to battle the HIV pandemic and preventative measures. If he didn't go?............So, he has to go, and just hope that everyone involved can keep him safe. Jeber
He should be OK unless he decides to travel by Segway.
FuzzButt
I wonder how much this trip is costing? A million Dollars? I wonder how far that money would go towards helping those countries humanitarian needs?Chris

Guest LilBambi
I hear ya George ... but look at it this way ... Any humanitarian aide to those suffering from AIDS will benefit the entire world ... not just other countries, but ours as well.
BarryB
I wonder what the cost would be if he didn't go. The last two presidents (Bill and George) have made a point of backing aid up with presence, I think both men understand that slinging money without creating a presence that shows level of consern and direction for the use of the money is a waste . I think (Maybe I'm wrong) spending 1 Mil to guide to use of 15 Billion is well spent money.

SocBum
I heard on the news today that somebody snuck onto the press plane that is traveling with the presidential african trip. The person was able to get onboard and actually traveled to the next stop!I think they are using M$ security methods for the press plane
