Touchpad problem

Can anyone clue me into what's going on? WindowsXP Pro seems to loose the touchpad every time I shut down. The basic pad functions are still working, but tap and scroll functions disappear. I have to delete the touchpad driver then reinstall to get those functions back. After a restart, the options in Control panel>mouse for the touchpad are gone.I also have a cordless Logitech mouse for when I'm at home. Could this be over-riding the touchpad driver? The system doesn't loose the mouse, just the tap and scroll functions of the Alps touchpad.I'm confused. :)

Did you install the Logitech drivers? Alps stuff don't seem to like any other driver from what I've seen. If your logi is a simple 2 button mouse with a wheel then you don't need a driver XP will see it fine. If it is one of the multi-button mice then your going to have to choose.

Yup, it's a multi-button mouse alright. Actually, it's the wireless KB/mouse combo from Logitech. Could I create separate hardware profiles for home and the road? Would that work? Thanks for the prompt reply.
