cahillkn Posted March 29, 2003 Posted March 29, 2003 I've got a practically new Canon LBP laser printer which I would like to use on my new computer running on Windows Xp Home.Has anyone devised a way to make this work? Please let me know. Quote
Big Jeff Posted March 29, 2003 Posted March 29, 2003 It has been suggested at DriverForum.com that:1. You could dual boot with Win 98 and use Win 98 for your printing needs.2. The driver for LBP 430 can be used for LBP 460 in Windows XP with some configuration. Just change the "letter" format to "A4-paper" format and it prints a nice result. Quote
Guest LilBambi Posted March 29, 2003 Posted March 29, 2003 Probably your best bet is to try what BigJeff has suggested. As I am sure you have found the Canon site only lists drivers for Win 95 and Win 3.1 for this printer.According to DriverForum article on this Canon printer. Canon apparently told the person posting that you can't use the printer with anything other than: W95,98 or ME.There is a Win9x driver listed at PrinterDrivers.com that they say might work with other versions of Windows. And there is an NT driver that you might try also listed on this page on PrinterDrivers.com this page on PrinterDrivers.comBut I am guessing that you have probably tried all these already :(In the old dot matrix days you could at least get some printers to work with later OSes by trying different printer drivers (even ones for other companies' printers), but with the advent of LaserJets and InkJets this has not been as successful.
