onederer
This is an exercise for the people who know how. Perhaps they can show the rest of us on how to do it.The era of the data R, RW DVD is upon us, and now is the time to start utilizing it to it's maximum capacity.Who out there knows how to create a bootable DVD? Can one install on that DVD platter a menu to select perhaps different operating systems? Or different partitions on a DVD platter? The menu being something like Grub, or LILO, or a boot manager? If that is the case, then one could economically place on one of those DVD platters, a few versions of Linux! So instead of just getting one single distro on a single CD platter, the DVD's capability makes it possible to store way more information. It would be possible to place on the platter perhaps Knoppix, and further down the way, RedHat for installation, and if there is still more room left, maybe Gentoo! The boot manager would make it possible to gain access to the desired distro, bypassing the ones not of interest at the moment.Got a solution? Please let us know! Peachy
Try this technique of using dd to create a bootable DVD-RAM. I think this can also be applied to DVD-RW.
