georgeg4
Hi I have been using The Galeon Browser and it worked fine till I opened it today . It is frozen on yesterdays links they are all on my workspace one says Galeon bin with a listing of the last 6 urls that I was on yesterday and on another one it has 3 tabs open with the last url on it and it says Loading but nothing happening . I tried to right click and close it but nothing happens there either . I just get the busy icon on my cursor . I am using mozilla now on a third workplace Perhaps this should be in a different topic . but I am having trouble setting up my camera and scanner as well . when I try xsane it says I have no scanner in my system and the scan and ocr program does nothing when I click on settings/select scan device . And the Digital Camera Tool will not detect my camera . Although the system does detect the usb hub it is connected to

If they are and you have troubles, start a seperate topic about them. Bruno

I did some of them and will set it to run tonite after I retire for the evening since thwey will take quite some time to complete . And btw I got galeon to run ok so I am back on it for awhile anyway .I do like it better than Konquerer or mozilla . Maybe firebird will be different though ,I will see. GolfProRM
George, If you have any questions about Firebird, let me know... I've really come to love it as a browser... It's got some shortcomings, but all in all, it's the best out there... I'm happy to help (as is anyone else here), so just come over to the Firebird subforum and we'll help you out! Guest LilBambi
I really love Firebird in Windows ... but I will have to say that I haven't found any browser in Linux that I like as well as Galeon ... so far anyway <_>
georgeg4
I kind of like Galeon also Fran .There is also another one I like but I don't think they have a linux version its called Off by 1 . It is distributed by tiny apps and fits on a floppy disk . A neat little browser . But I am open minded and I like to experiment so I will download firebird and try it . Bruno
Another Galeon fan here, but the one shipped with mdk9.1 was buggy so I jumped over to Phoenix ( the old Firebird version ), did like it a lot, it kind of grew on me, but since the bugfixes for Galeon came in I hurried back to my old favorite browser: Galeon. ( Phoenix kept showing in the running processes a long time after shutting the browser down !?! ) Bruno
Agent007
I too really like Galeon....btw, guess what? Galeon 2 is in the making..http://galeon.sourceforge.net/galeon2/
Bruno
That''s good news 007 !Hope they bring some of the old features back that they left out in the latest built, I tought the bookmarkeditor in the old version was better and also the memory function linked to the % you last view a special site. Those were really clever tricks. Hope also that importing the old bookmarks will give less of a hassle. Those are my wishes . . . . Agent007
Most probably they'll be adding better support for downloads......I'd really like a resume feature. Could come in handy instead of wget'ting all the time...
Peachy
Galeon is a Gecko-based browser so it should be similar to Mozilla 1.2. The sourceforge site said Galeon2 is awaiting a stable Mozilla 1.3. 1.3 is stable so they should have it out soon, you think?Again, go with MozillaFirebird which will eventually be called Mozilla 1.5 as the Mozilla team has decided that fter a stable Mozilla 1.4 is released development will switch over to using Firebird. Bruno
Mozilla 1.3.1 is the version on recent the updates of mdk. It is still as slow as the previous version was, Galeon is a lot faster, even faster then the new Firebird. I dumped the Firebird and went back to the Phoenix I had backed up somewhere, that one is still as fast as Galeon and I use it as browser in Slackware ( does not have Galeon ). The last Mozilla update was 53 MB, no wonder it is slow. Would even prefer Konqueror more then MozillaB) Bruno
georgeg4
After reading everyone comments here . Even though I am going to download and try Firebird I think I will stick with Galeon . I didn't like Konquerer at all and like Bruno said Mozilla is kind of slow . I may try Phoenix again as well ( I tried Mozilla and Phoenix both in Windows ) But all in all I think Galeon is the best so far for a newbie at least . It is simple to use and the one time it locked up on me I found out was my fault .Since then I have had no problems .
Bruno
and the one time it locked up on me I found out was my fault It takes a great man to admit his mistakes George ! Glad you´re sticking with Galeon. By far the best browser around ! Bruno
georgeg4
It takes a great man to admit his mistakes George biggrin.gif biggrin.gif ! Glad you´re sticking with Galeon. By far the best browser around !I am not too sure about the greatness Bruno ( Although I do thank you for the compliment ) but I do know that any man can make a mistake . The difference between a fool and an intelligent man is the intelligent man will learn from his mistake and the fool will dismiss it .
