imranj Posted May 26, 2003 Posted May 26, 2003 Hello Ppl........this question is directly for ppl running win2k3 enterprise Oses.........others can chip into........ Well i just got a machine........Hp Vectra...on which xp is running.............and my other machine which is AMD k 800 on which win2k3 ENT is running.So i havent networked before although i am well versed with the networking terminology, so just needed the directions.So i want my Hp Vectra to be connected to my this server as i wanted to practice my networking skills..........so basically i wanted to know what all things should be their to enable this machine to connect to my server for autentication, logging etc etc i mean which all server roles i should enable and also that i want my Hp machine to ask my server to connect to NET, the internet access mode is dial up so what should i do their and do i need a modem for the HP machine........? the server has the modem.........!And should i have to deal with active directory..........and other stuffs..........just let me know what all things should be in place....and for the net access do i have to thinker with routing and remote access..............and plus the changes needed on winxp side too .thanksImran J Quote

Guest ThunderRiver Posted May 26, 2003 Posted May 26, 2003 You don't need to deal with Active Directory if you don't want to.Windows 2003 has Remote Desktop enabled by default, so you can login in throuhg your "remote desktop client" in Xp and operate remotely. It also supports con-current secession, which means you can login to the same account while another user is using the same account. No conflict at all. I suggest you getting a router, which is the easiest way to router everything together.Let me know if you need more help, I have been using Windows 2003 Enterprise Server since its early stages.
