Guest LilBambi
DoNotTrackMe: New name, same tracker-blocking game - CNET Abine's Do Not Track Plus gets a new name, a few new tools, and a much better look, making it much easier to use the modern Web without being tracked. Abine's DoNotTrackMe For PC & Macs: Chrome, IE, Firefox, & Safari
zlim
Just updated my addons based on the above. Thanks Fran. Now to go around to the other computers.in the house and update them.
Corrine
With the download hosted at CNet, be very careful. I've been helping a LOT of people lately who got the troublesome Babylon Toolbar along with the software they were installing.
Guest LilBambi
Groan! I hate the Babylon Toolbar! It is a bane!
zlim
If you update through the addon panel in FF, you don't get a toolbar. I updated on Win 2K, XP and 7 with no toolbar. If you did not have it installed, I guess you need to wait to see if anyone else will carry the download. Not sure about this download https://addons.mozilla.org/en-us/firefox/addon/donottrackplus/
Guest LilBambi
And here's the Chrome Web Store download location for DoNotTrackME If CNET is adding the Babylon Toolbar, then CNET Downloads needs to be avoided like the plague.
V.T. Eric Layton
No toolbar with the Linux version of the addon, either.
Guest LilBambi
Did you get it from Firefox or Chrome or from CNET, Eric? If you get it from the browser extensions page, it doesn't include that piece of crapware.
V.T. Eric Layton
Oh... from FF's addons site. That would really suck if CNET is dumping ca-ca on their downloads nowadays.

Corrine
CNet isn't alone with the garbage. See our friend Bill Pytlovany's post: Bits from Bill: The Dangers of Downloading Free Software.

zlim
I steer clear of CNet and Softpedia. I was surprised at File Hippo because I have downloaded things there and also pointed people there to download things. I won't be pointing anyone there unless I look at the download myself.
