Not surprised it worked out for you as I have upgraded from Buster - Bullseye - Bookworm - Trixie - Forky over the past few years on the same old Thinkpad T430. In each case I ran the Testing distro for a couple of years, followed it into Stable, and then after a few weeks, migrated back (forward?) to Testing.
There have been a few glitches, mostly with the GNOME desktop Extensions as I don't run Vanilla GNOME. However the complementary LXQt desktop always works.
It isn't a rolling release, but I'm pretty happy about it. This is not a mission critical machine though; for mission critical I'd probably stick with Debian Stable.
