Quote

Haven’t you heard about Aura? In short, it is a powerful package manager that simplifies the installation and management of packages on Arch Linux.

The main selling point? It is known for its seamless handling of both official Arch packages and user-contributed AUR (Arch User Repository) ones. Let’s see now what the new version has in store for us.

What is Aura?

Aura is a package manager for Arch Linux. Its original purpose was in supplementing Pacman to support the building of AUR packages, but since its creation in 2012 it has evolved to enable a variety of use cases.

I had never heard of this before but it has been around since 2012. Anyone had any experience with it ? 😎

Actually no, that is not Arch's package manager. That is a 3rd party unsupported application from the AUR. There are many others available like Yaourt and Pacaur.

Oh and all of the ones I listed also offer official and AUR packages. That is the whole point of using one, to be able to install AUR packages without manually doing so.

Well Pacman is the official package manager, or so I thought. As to Pacaur I have been using it as long as I can remember. It is a really neat program. There was a time when it was tricky to install but is easy to do these days. 😎

Well Pacman is the only official package manager but yeah, pacaur is nice. I used Yaourt for years but pacaur is a lot better IMO.
