ebrke
Here's something I didn't expect. Thumb drive went through complete cycle of washing machine, not in a pocket, just bouncing around in soapy water with clothes. I found it and with no hope at all dropped it into a container of rice. I pulled it out today and all the data is there untouched by All detergent. 1 1

sunrat
Water generally won't harm electronic circuits until you run current through them. Drying it completely was the only thing you could do to save it. Washing it in distilled water afterwards to remove soap residue could also be helpful but your washing machine must have removed enough of it in the rinse cycle. 1
securitybreach
Yeah as long as the drive dried out before plugging it in, the drive would be fine.
abarbarian
Ha ha that is a alternative way to wipe clean your drives.
