securitybreach Posted January 15, 2020 Posted January 15, 2020 This is your post, admit it Abarbarian! Fullsize: https://i.redd.it/6wml43qdrta41.png From here: [WindowMaker] RMS is proud of me! 8D All kidding aside, this looks really good. 2 Quote
Hedon James Posted January 16, 2020 Posted January 16, 2020 Wow...this is the most modern looking take on Window Maker I have seen. This may tempt me to tinker with WM in a VM?! Does WM have a native right click desktop/root menu? Or would I have to add something like jgmenu for that functionality? Quote
securitybreach Posted January 16, 2020 Author Posted January 16, 2020 I do not as I have not used it since the early 2000s but Abarbarian could tell you for sure. Quote
saturnian Posted January 16, 2020 Posted January 16, 2020 Yeah, that looks nice! I used Window Maker for awhile but it's been years. Hedon James, check out this site: https://www.windowmaker.org/ Dig around there -- all the info you'll need is there, as I recall. And you can see the menu in that screen shot on the Window Maker home page, might be enough to answer your question. 1 Quote

That is so ingrained in me now, that it's one of my first criteria. If it doesn't have one, I'm adding jgmenu right away! LOL! 1 Quote
saturnian Posted January 17, 2020 Posted January 17, 2020 I know what you mean -- I love having that desktop right-click menu, too! As I recall, Window Maker's was a bit different. I can't remember what exactly was different about it, though! 1 Quote
abarbarian Posted January 27, 2020 Posted January 27, 2020 Yup you can right click right from the get go in Window Maker. I seem to remember that there are a few good tips in this thread, https://forums.scotsnewsletter.com/index.php?/topic/56171-window-maker/ 1 Quote
saturnian Posted January 31, 2020 Posted January 31, 2020 I was using Window Maker about 5 years ago, in Bridge Linux. The official documentation and this Arch wiki page were very helpful to me. I thought it was quite interesting that menus/submenus could be "detached", then could be kept open and moved around the desktop -- that's a feature I haven't seen elsewhere. 1 Quote

That detach feature is neat. I use it when I am choosing a new theme. Or if I like the look of my windows etc and just want a new background I detach the "images" section and try out different wallpapers. So easy to change themes as you do not need a restart. An if you like to make your own theme up it is a doddle to accomplish. Arch has a ton of dock apps some usefull and some just total time wasters. I have several more that I have found the source files for and intend testing them out at some point. If you would like any or any of the themes give us a shout. Quote
