raymac46
If you want to install Debian Stretch in VirtualBox on Windows, you may run into problems with the rc3 netinstall iso. After installation finishes and you reboot you'll get a "recovering journal /dev/sda1" hangup and you can't get to anything useful to fix it. I solved the problem by installing the daily build netinstall iso for today. So I guess Debian or Oracle have fixed the bug. No idea if this is strictly a VBox problem or if a bare metal install would run into the same issue.

raymac46
I tried a GNOME install as well as the previous Xfce install using the daily build netinstall iso and it works fine. Just wanted to rule out the possibility there was a bug in the GNOME desktop that caused the earlier problem. Linux on Linux. Guest is Debian Stretch GNOME on host Linux Mint 18.1 No Windows in sight. Edited May 9, 2017 by raymac46
