Countdown to Buy Windows 7 (or 8.1) PC

Recommended Posts

Corrine

October 31, 2016, is the EoS (End of Sales) date for Windows 7 and Windows 8.1. That means that as of November 1, OEMs will no longer be able to sell PCs with those operating systems installed.

EoL (End of Life) for Windows 7 is January 14, 2020 and January 10, 2023 for Windows 8.1, after which time no further security updates will be provided for them.\

Kinda funny how you have to keep buying the latest phone or your Apps won't work as they are updated. Meanwhile you hold on to the old desktop OS's because no one will ever update your scanner, printer, or whatever drivers/programs to work on the new OS.

It's a world of planned obsolescence, my friend. Been that way since the 60s or so.
