siduction 2014.1 – Indian Summer released

Recommended Posts

Indian Summer is shipped with six desktop environments: KDE SC, XFCE, LXDE, LXQt, GNOME and Cinnamon, all in 32- and 64-bit variants.

Besides those desktop environments we also include noX, which is an environment without X. There is, last, but not least, an image that listens to the name of Xorg and it features the minimal window manager Fluxbox on top of X.

I'm looking forward to trying the new LXQt version, and maybe try btrfs. Homerun, newly included in KDE, looks interesting too. My main siduction install will not be replaced as it still works well. Rolling release rocks!

And for those of us who consider that released versions are far outdated - there is the current development of lxqt in the extra/experimenal repository of siduction - including two kf5 libs and the newest bleeding LXQt stuff - as i said, it may be a little bit buggy (not more then the release) - but in heavy development. It may kill kittens, but run so far great on my main machine. Ermh - DISCLAIMER: Don't try this at home unless you really know what you are doing, because there can and will be faults in both source (http://github.com/lxde/lxqt/issues) and packaging. A VM with snapshots will be a good idea to start with.

Welcome agaida, it's an honour to see you here.

LXQt definitely has potential to become a premium lightweight desktop. I plan to set up a VM to try the extra/experimental version soon.

For those unaware, agaida is a core siduction developer and maintains the LXQt and NoX versions. B)

Debian Security Advisory DSA-3276-1 security@debian.org

http://www.debian.org/security/ David Prevot

May 31, 2015 http://www.debian.org/security/faq

- -------------------------------------------------------------------------

Package : symfony

CVE ID : CVE-2015-4050

Jakub Zalas discovered that Symfony, a framework to create websites and

web applications, was vulnerable to restriction bypass. It was

affecting applications with ESI or SSI support enabled, that use the

FragmentListener. A malicious user could call any controller via the

/_fragment path by providing an invalid hash in the URL (or removing

it), bypassing URL signing and security rules.

For the stable distribution (jessie), this problem has been fixed in

version 2.3.21+dfsg-4+deb8u1.

For the testing distribution (stretch), this problem has been fixed

in version 2.7.0~beta2+dfsg-2.

For the unstable distribution (sid), this problem has been fixed in

version 2.7.0~beta2+dfsg-2.

We recommend that you upgrade your symfony packages.

Tell us how you go with LXQt, rejean. I have only installed it in VBox so far, but my siduction KDE has been running beautifully for 18 months or more. It was December version, the one before Indian Summer, and has been continuously updated.

Sorry Sunrat! I've been so busy with 3 or 4 projects at high school, community center, local museum plus our own gardens and the coming farmer's market that I haven't have time trying agaida's project yet. I have it downloaded somewhere and will sure give it a try when I can.
