Frank Woods
http://ultimateediti...te-edition-3-5/ I found out about this great Distro. It has just about everything you need. Release Name: Ultimate Edition 3.5 Architecture: x64 (64 bit) Release Base: Ultimate Edition 3.4 (Ubuntu 12.04 Precise Pangolin) Environments: KDE, Gnome 3, Gnome Classic, Gnome fallback, Cinnamon, Unity, XBMC Filesize: 3.5 GB (3,558,309,888 bytes) It works great it is like a AIO Linux. I have it and PClos and that is all I ever will need. It is a Live DVD and installs easily and works great. It has a few more that are listed as well. sunrat
These distros with everything but the kitchen sink are good if you want to try out lots of different programs and desktops to see what you like. There is no way I would use one as my everyday system though. I much prefer to install a minimal system and then add the programs I want. This one is based on Ubuntu which I have had bad experiences with, from failure to install properly to excessive resource usage.

Frank Woods
Well then do not use any Flavor of Mint as it is based on Unbunto. With this I don't have to fool around with getting various distos into PClinuxOS's Grub, just one. To each his own.
securitybreach
Well then do not use any Flavor of Mint as it is based on Unbunto. Actually that is not true as the LMDE version is based upon Debian hence the name (Linux Mint Debian Edition). http://www.linuxmint...wnload_lmde.php

At least it is made in The USA. The Mint site says that it is based on UBUNTU or Debian. http://www.linuxmint.com/about.php I think you will find that there is no such thing as UBUNTO. http://www.linuxquestions.org/questions/ubuntu-63/unbuntu-unbunto-534815/ As to it or any distro being made in the USA well that is just plain old rubbish. Distros may have been started in started in certain countries but contributions to all distros come from all over the globe. Thereby making all distros global distros. There really is no place in the GNU/Linux world for politics and territorialism apart from the politics of freedom. In my humble opinion that is. The Mint is base on Debian on if you get the LMDE release . As far as your opinion goes, I couldn't care less.

ichase
[opinion] Linux Mint whether it be the ubuntu version or debian version is a great choice. I always recommend Mint to anyone starting out with Linux. Why? It's just works darn good out of the box. The Cinnamon desktop that Mint uses is based on Gnome 3 I believe and is VERY stable. Ultimate Edition is off the chain. And I tried it and was like wow, I think it's giving me a massage as well as everything else it was doing. but "full of bloat" is an understatement. I have found that many of the GNU/Linux OS's that are BASED on Ubuntu are more stable and work BETTER than straight Ubuntu. I may use Arch Linux for my own reasons but I put Linux Mint numero uno on the list of best OoTB distros. [/opinion] The awesome thing is, you can install hundreds of GNU/Linux OS's and as long as your grub menu is set up you can choose which ever one you want to boot into. Or put them in VM. Check this out: Distros Galore can't beat the freedom of GNU/Linux with a stick.

Frank Woods
I tried most of those, I installed Ubunto 13.04 yesterday and it seems to br working OK. @ichase I agree that UE 3.5 is a POS. I found another one caled Hybrede Evoloution that is even worse. It will not install. I have Mint Mate 15 and Mint KDE 14 installed and you are right, they just work.
