abarbarian Posted May 2, 2012 Posted May 2, 2012 http://www.tgdaily.com/games-and-entertainment-brief/62975-tor-and-forge-sci-fi-e-books-ditch-drm Yes, some publishers want us to believe they use DRM to prevent piracy, but typically DRM ends up preventing a buyer from doing what he or she wants with a legitimately owned product. "Our authors and readers have been asking for this for a long time," said president and publisher Tom Doherty. "They’re a technically sophisticated bunch, and DRM is a constant annoyance to them. It prevents them from using legitimately-purchased e-books in perfectly legal ways, like moving them from one kind of e-reader to another." A big "well done" to Macmillan for standing up for freedom and common sense Quote
Guest LilBambi Posted May 3, 2012 Posted May 3, 2012 Yea!!! So happy to see they are finally wising up! DRM doesn't do anything to the people who can get around it, but it does put a hurtin' on legitimate users who don't know what to do when their purchased item doesn't work as intended, or they can't use it on their other devices or computers. :th_Smiley-Wave: Quote
