Martini Lover
I am operating a laptop computer, wireless network card (g type), wireless router (b type), cable internet, XP Home, using IE6, with SP2 and all updates. A specific forum page that I frequent a lot is driving me nuts. Not that it matters but the page is Cpap.Com. I have sleep apnea.Every time I try to post on this forum page, my computer locks up. I have tried other browsers, downloading Netscape, Mozilla, and Firefox and the same thing happens with them, also. Everything freezes, and it takes a power turn off, and reboot to get the machine going again. I have run the new Microsoft Spyware, S&D, and AdAware. I run Spyware Blaster also. I have done a Chkdsk, and I am out of ideas. What am I missing? Edited January 29, 2005 by Martini Lover
nlinecomputers
It is a PHP based page so it shouldn't cause problems on your end. What do your event logs say?
Martini Lover
What do your event logs say?I knew it wouldn't take long for someone to say something that I don't know how to do.Where do I find them?
nlinecomputers
Start/Program/Adminstrative Tools/Event Viewer. Look for red X items in either System or Application that occur at the time of your freeze up.

nlinecomputers
Double check the spelling on this. Did this app have TWO "e" in itieexplorer? Or was that a typo? iexplorer.exe is Internet Explorer. ieexplorer is trojan.

nlinecomputers
Can you cut and paste the entire error message and post it here? When you open up the error message there is a little icon that looks like a couple pages of paper. if you click on that the error is pasted in the clipboard. You can then paste it here. Also are there any other events good or bad that happen prior or after that error?

nlinecomputers
Not finding many hits on this error except the general opinion that some kind of malware that has hooked into your IE maybe at fault.I would visit this site: http://aumha.org/a/quickfix.htmDo all the tasks it asks and try to run IE again. If it still bombs then post your hijackthis log here for us to look at. We will see if we can find anything oddball. When you post your hijackthis log please use the [C0DE] tags not quote as that managles the post.
NRD
The only other thing I saw mentioned besides spyware, as Nline mentioned, was a faulty RAM module. It doubt this is the case, since only one website is causing the problem, but it couldn't hurt to run some hardware diagnostics. Martini Lover
Ran all items and here is HijackThis results. When I logged into page, I did make it one step further than I usually do. I did get to type in a response but when I pushed the "add reply" button, it froze. nlinecomputers
System looks pretty clean to me. But you have serveral items that hook into IE such as your popup blocker and roboform. Perhaps a bug in one of them might be the issue here. I would disable or remove them and see if this improves your performance. I notice that you are using Microsoft Java which is no longer supported by** I'd download and install that. Also have you considered switching to FF or at least trying that on your site? Martini Lover
Well, I loaded FF and it works. Guess I am just getting old, and hate to go to something new. I am very comfortable with IE but I'll probably get used to FF. Thank you all for your patience and help.
