  1. Ok I confess, I listen to lots of music and watch lots of music videos, most of which don't quite fit the criteria for the Awesome Video thread. So here's a music video thread. I'll show you mine if you show me yours! Here's a couple that impressed me today: Alan Jackson,Jimmy Buffett - It's Five O' Clock Somewhere (love this song http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BPCjC543llU Conduct Us: Improv Everywhere. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5_cbnBak8RI
  2. I came across this article on folk leaving Spotify and such like sites. There’s endless choice, but you’re not listening’: fans quitting Spotify to save their love of music Quite a neat article. I knew people were starting to go back to vinyl and mini cd players and such and not simply due to them working out cheaper than a streaming service. The article led me to discover Navidrome which I thought might be of interest to folk here. I like that it can run on a Raspberry Pi Zero and has Docker images. Also it is more secure if you turn of or do not use the Subsonic stuff.
  3. One of my favourite bands ever. This one brings a little tear every time. Talk Talk - It's My Life (Live at Montreux 1986) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rbwz532EQw8 This singer is the same age as me. I still don't know what I want to do if I grow up. Alphaville - Forever Young (Moscow 2013) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e30L1DqxH6g
  4. I caught an episode of Front and Center on PBS early this AM that featured Zakk Wylde, lead guitar/vocals for the group Black Label Society, sitting in with the Les Paul Trio at the Iridium Theater. This dude can bend some strings, man! I wish I had had the passion in my youth to become a guitar god like this. His fret work is astounding. Here's a couple samples from the Front and Center show: http://youtu.be/s1OGQQk5HpM Zakk Wylde and the Les Paul Trio at the Iridium --> youtu.be/i5SV9e0hDc0 If you like blues-infused heavy metal/hard rock like Stevie Ray Vaughn, Allman Brothers Band, Alice In Chains, Motorhead, etc. you'll love Black Label Society. I'm listening to their first album, Sonic Brew, right now on GrooveShark. I'll be exploring all their albums in the next few days. These guys are going to be my new fav metal heads for a while, I think. Black Label Society https://en.wikipedia...k_Label_Society http://blacklabelsociety.com/home/ http://youtu.be/LVO-3_pjuSg Zakk Wylde https://en.wikipedia...wiki/Zakk_Wylde P.S. Check out the blond babe swinging that bass guitar behind Wylde at the Iridium: Nicki Parrott http://nickiparrott.com/
