Corrine
Saw the subject article at BC, Mozilla to Drop Support for All NPAPI Plugins in Firefox 52, Except Flash, and went looking for more information at Mozilla and found this: Plug-in support has been dropped other than Flash (Affecting) | Firefox Site Compatibility. Bottom line, if you absolutely must use the Java or other NPAPI plugins and wish to continue using Firefox, you will need to switch to the ESR version which will allow those plugins to be enabled until May 2018.
securitybreach
Surprised they haven't dropped Flash too. HTML5 is far superior than flash and is widespread..
V.T. Eric Layton
There's still way too much Flash out there for them to drop support of it. I wonder if there's an easy way to tell if my extensions are NPAPI. I know none are Java because I don't have Java installed on my system. I would hate to lose some of my extensions. Fortunately, I am running ESR.
securitybreach
Well since I use Chrome, I use Google's implementation of flash called pepperflash: Pepper Flash Player is maintained by Google, and is newer than Adobe Flash Player. Adobe currently still provides security fixes for Adobe Flash Player. Google provides newer features in Pepper Flash Player. Pepper Flash Player can currently only be used with Chromium (and with Chrome). https://wiki.debian....pperFlashPlayer
ebrke
There's still way too much Flash out there for them to drop support of it. I log into a bank website to check status of one of my mother's accounts and am always upset to see my flash-blocking plugin asking if I want to run Flash on the bank's website! Needless to say, I don't. Ugh. :'(
