ebrke
Take care, Eric. I know you're not on the east coast, but it sounds like things could get a little hairy even where you are. I see there's a tropical storm watch in effect for your area.
V.T. Eric Layton
The storm is not cutting as sharply NW as it was. The 6PM update said this will mean even lighter winds and rain on my side. YAY! Sure wouldn't want to be in the path of that monster. The State of Florida is going to experience CATASTROPHIC damage from this storm. It is going to be UGLY for nearly half the state. mac
Eric, amenditman and Webb, my prayers go out to you all facing this monster of a hurricane! One of my working buddies who retired at the same time as I did, left his home in Edgewater (just south of Daytona Beach) on Wednesday and is staying with his brother in Baton Rouge. He's dreading what he's going to be facing when he gets back home.
V.T. Eric Layton
All's well here, Mac. We're on the weak side and many miles distant from that monster. So far, it's been just a few sprinkles and some stiff breezes. I have a better chance of getting run over by evacuees from the other coast (local hotels/motels @ 95+% capacity) than I do from sustaining any storm damage. YAY! I'm not complaining. Oh, and about Daytona... it's getting the sheet beat out of it right now.
securitybreach
Oh, and about Daytona... it's getting the sheet beat out of it right now. Not as bad as 2004 when it was hit by 3 hurricanes back to back. I didnt evacuate then but we didn't have power for about a month.
Dr. J
I saw this on devRant and shared the link on "funniest thing on the internet"... looks like you beat me to it though Eric. Edited October 8, 2016 by Dr. J
abarbarian
I am sure it is a wind up, but, I received this picture supposedly sent to me by Eric's neighbour taken just moments after he heard about the hurricane.
V.T. Eric Layton
HAHA! Can't be me. I cut my hair short and trimmed my beard just a month or so ago. I look like a 9-to-5 slob now.
securitybreach
HAHA! Can't be me. I cut my hair short and trimmed my beard just a month or so ago. I look like a 9-to-5 slob now. Ha, I resent that. I have a three inch long beard (about that) with hair half way down my back (tied up of course) and work IT in an Enterprise environment. Nowadays, corporate american has changed from the clean shaven with a tie type to executives in button-down short sleeve shirt and slacks (or jeans). You see a good majority of people in jeans/polo's, even in major corporations. Now the majority do not have long beards but there are some. Heck one guy in the IT group has a goatee down to his waist,... Corporate america is a bit looser nowadays (thank goodness).
V.T. Eric Layton
Yeah, but you're an IT geek, man. That's different.
securitybreach
Yeah, but you're an IT geek, man. That's different. Yeah but I am the only one in my group with a beard. Well a full beard, anyway.
V.T. Eric Layton
IT geeks are a breed apart. They look like bikers, have tattoos, smoke, cuss, party a lot... etc., but they know about techie stuff, not motorcycles.
