raymac46
Recently I found out I need to learn about WordPress since a forum I work at uses it as a blogging plugin. Now I've never managed to stay a blogger for long in the past, even though my first attempts at it date back to 2002. But I need to get more serious about it. My old blog was just using an account at Google-Blogger but WordPress is a more serious piece of software. So I've set up my own domain and resurrected my former blog in a new location. I'm really glad I learned about Linux over the years because the webhosts out there are usually based on the LAMP server stack and you need to know the basic Linux file structure to get a feel for how things work. I've managed to get things going without leading my readers off into 404 land, so I must not be as dumb as I look. If you'd like to see what I've accomplished in a few hours look here .

V.T. Eric Layton
Nice. I love WordPress. I don't use their software, but I do use their website to host my blogs.

Guest LilBambi
Wordpress.com makes a great blogging software for blogs as does Wordpress.org where you can download the software for your own installation. I love Wordpress! I have created quite a few from both types. You can find them in my signature and my installed versions of Wordpress on my portfolio page on my website: ValueOfOne.us BeautifulEdibleFlowers.com 5BuckReview.com plus I used it on NewBirthChurchMtAiry.com Wordpress has come a very long way and some of the themes available are awesome! raymac46
Yes I've switched to a very minimalist format theme called Bayse. It's a lot easier to install a new theme if you have your own domain, rather than using wordpress.com Edited November 4, 2014 by raymac46
Guest LilBambi
Not to mention the addons for security that are available on your own domain.
