atiustira
Hello help please I am running Ubuntu 14.04 LTS with Gnome flashback Metacity, and after a recent update I can no longer minimize any open folders or programs to the lower task bar. Not sure if the update did that or if my other operator deleted some thing. She did say that she was seeing a pop up of a program on reboot. Any one know how I can nail this down(missing program) or update. Also repair it so that I can minimize to task bar. I work with multiple things open. I know that I can use multiple work spaces open but that is a pain. Help please.
V.T. Eric Layton
In order to have icons of open windows on the panel, you'll need to have an panel app enabled. In Xfce, it's call Window Buttons. I forget what it's called in Gnome... maybe Window Switcher? In Ubuntu's own desktop manager? I have no idea. Just click the panel and choose add items or whatever is close to that in the menu. If you clicked the right thing, a window with addon apps for the panel will show up and you can see of there's one there similar to what you need. Sorry, not too well-versed in Ubuntu these days. Hedon James
I haven't used Gnome Fallback in several years, so I'm a little rusty too. Is this what you're trying to do? http://askubuntu.com/questions/99932/missing-window-list-on-bottom-panel-in-gnome-classic Or maybe one of these items? http://www.binarytides.com/install-gnome-flashback-ubuntu/
atiustira
V.T. Eric Layton My Ubuntu has a calculator on the lower bar, and a window switcher. But in right clicking on the bar nothing responds("Just click the panel and choose add items or whatever is close to that in the menu. ") So that just doesn’t work for me. I tried that. I tried everything I could think of then googled and just didn’t find a answer. You guy's over here are my go to guy's. I know you are expert's. I really respect all of you, alot! Hedon James The top link worked like a charm for me. The missing app was Window list. Keep up the awesome work! I am really really happy. You ROCK!!!!
Hedon James
Excellent! Glad you got it sorted out! You just don't get that level of quality support from vendors of certain proprietary OSes!
