For anybody struggling with YUM-using distros, here are a couple of easy to read links trying to make understandable what YUM is, what it does, how to use it and that sort of things. Some basics but well written.Part 1Covering the basics, adding Repositorieshttp://www.ducea.com...g-repositories/Part2Managing system updateshttp://www.ducea.com...dates/#more-123Part3List of other repositorieshttp://www.ducea.com...r-repositories/

Why does that topic title make me hungry? Synaptic or YAST don't have that effect on me. ;)Seriously though, great links, Striker. Thanks!

Just a minor glitch I spotted in Part 1:

Fill in the following lines and save it.[dag]name=Dag RPM Repository for Red Hat Enterprise Linux baseurl=http://apt.sw.be/redhat/el$releasever/en/$basearch/daggpgcheck=1enabled=1
Add to that:after that hit the ENTER button to add an extra empty line. That goes for every repo you add this way.Otherwise it doesn't work. You may also read the Stanton Finley Release Notes for Fed. 3-5 :http://www.stanton-f...tion_notes.htmlhttp://www.stanton-f...tion_notes.htmlhttp://stanton-finle...tion_notes.html

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience. ~C. S. Lewis
