Cluttermagnet
Bigfoot ComputersI dunno-On their website they are offering several heatsinks under the heading "Hot Items This Week". I thought it was a bad thing when a heatsink feels hot. :lol:In my area we have some big company called "Yellow". I see a lot of cabs and also some smaller size delivery trucks that all have the "Yellow" logo on them in large, easy to read type. And of course all of these vehicles are painted orange! ross549
Bigfoot ComputersHmm.... theyhave some really high shipping rates to the US.... not good. The heatsinks (w/o fan) should cost less than that.
longgone
I think that the heatsink/fan combo for the PIII is a socket 370 and I read somewhere (once again, I think) that the same unit works on both the socket 370 and the socket A boards. If you could check on that an verify it, I have several heat sink/fan combos for the socket A that are good for cpu speeds up to 1.5 gig. Since I no longer need them it would be nice to give them a home where they can do something besides sit in the garage.
ross549
My procs are Slot 1's, so a 370 heatsink will not work.
longgone
Oh well, I tried, it is the thought that counts.
Guest ThunderRiver
I doubt mine is a good suggestion, but have you looked into ebay or pricewatch.com ?
pc-tecky
http://www.spartantech.comhttp://www.microcenter.comhttp://www.zakpc.comhttp://www.sky-pro.nethttp://www.buy.comP-III as in slot 1 or P-III as in Socket 370? There is a very important difference and it's definitely related to CPU clock speed. Slot 1 SECC2 has the four offset holes for the heatsink/fan. Socket 370 and Socket A are typically a heatsink/fan combo and may or may not always be inter-compatable, but I think they typically are. Milage will vary with locations of components on the motherboard . I hope that helps.Actually, using Pricewatch.com to follow most any link of a CPU or motherboard retailer's/distributor's web site to browse around will (85%-95%) get you to their CPU heatsink/fan selection on their site. Good luck.
Eric Legge
A Google.com search for the type of cooler and the country, such as "slot 1" + cooler + uk, should bring up the links you need. I tried it, and the first link was for a Intel P111 Slot 1 cooler from ebay.co.uk.Substitute "Socket A", "Socket 478", etc. and the country to get what you want.Eric,http://www.legge40.freeserve.co.uk/BuyerBeware.htm
