rolanaj
I was on FB for awhile but got kind of tired of trying to keep up with the privacy policy and such. I think it is useful for keeping up with family and friends but its also pretty annoying. Some family members pestered me for awhile to go back on it, but I haven't and I don't miss it. I use twitter, I follow the news and some other people I am interested in, and I actually find it quite useful.I like being able to pick the stories theat interest me. mac
Count me in to those that never used Facebook, despite pressure from family members to install it. Like rolanaj the privacy issues turned me off.
zlim
Luddite here. I never did FB nor twitter. My friends reach me by phone and email. Three of the relatives either do not own a computer or rarely turn the thing on.
Cluttermagnet
Lately in the news- Facebook determined to 'out' every private user still clinging to any illusion of privacy. This is so well known that even CNN is covering it. Yikes! I am so glad I never signed on for that insanity...
abarbarian
Looks like the majority of folk had the good sense not to play with fire. Me neither. Only reason to use FB in my opinion is if you want to promote a product or service an the you would have to use a nom de plume.
Guest LilBambi
And Facebook's latest makes it all the more important. But they have been using the frog in water over the heat method to ease their terrible privacy changes to their members. Facebook no longer lets users hide from search - SFGate (October 12, 2013) Facebook is getting rid of a privacy feature that let users limit who can find them on the social network. Facebook Inc. said Thursday that it is removing a setting that controls whether users could be found when people type their name into the website's search bar. Facebook says only a single-digit percentage of the nearly 1.2 billion people on its network were using the setting. There you have it; millions of users no longer matter to Facebook because they are too big to care.
ross549
As a Facebook user, I must take the devil's advocate position here. OK, so this setting sounded pretty nice. Prevent my profile from being found by a search engine? Cool. However, it really did not matter if the box was checked or not. I could still be found via my network of friends. It could be something like a comment, a post somewhere, etc. My profile was not really being hidden- only from the search box. A mutual friend could easily be a conduit to find me. A post in a group could do it. Sure, all my posts are set to "Friends Only" by default, but my comments carry the same privacy settings of the post being commented on. So, it does not matter. The setting was relatively worthless. Adam
Guest LilBambi
Sure for someone like you with tight privacy settings. But kids being stalked by pedophiles, or spouses being stalked by ex-husbands, or people in general being stalked by old boyfriends or girlfriends, or mean spirited people, it was a very important part of people's facebook experience. You have to remember that very few users are like you Adam.
