Facebook users already voting ‘no’ to proposed changes - Computerworld Voice of IT

Facebook users are already voting against the proposed changes that it set out in its revised privacy and security policies.

After receiving questions from its users, Facebook posted an ‘Explanation of Changes’ update on its Site Governance page, which provides some further details to the proposed changes, under its Data Use Policy andStatement of Rights and Responsibilities, that were of most concern to users.

One of the main concerns is Facebook sharing user data with its affiliated companies such as Instagram.

Facebook has integrated feedback from regulators and users into a clarified set of site governance and privacy policy changes, andstarting now, users will have seven days to vote for or against them. They’ll lose the ability to vote on future changes unless 30 percent of all users vote and the majority reject the proposal. Such a high turnout is unlikely, so this will likely be the last governance vote.

I just voted. There's no chance it gets to 300 million votes, as I was the 560,000th or so vote to keep the current documents. There were maybe 100,000 votes for the new ones. So they'll "take it under consideration" and then do what they want anyway.

Allow me to put it this way -- if people can't be bothered to vote in the election for their government officials, how can we expect that they would consider taking the few minutes to vote for a Facebook change?
