Google Chrome: Mac OS X Tiger and Windows XP
I get so fed up with the crap with Google and Apple.OK, where am I coming from?Let’s go back a bit…Back in 2001, October 25, 2001, Windows XP came out.April 29, 2005, Mac OS X Tiger (10.4) came out.Now it is 2010. Windows XP is nearly 10 years old and Mac OS X Tiger is only 5 years old.Google comes out with Chrome, and only releases it for Leopard and up and only on Intel Macs which only came out in the Mac world in the last couple years. But, releases it for a nearly 10 year old Windows XP?!What the heck is going on here!?!...

While I agree it should be simple to port to OS X running on the PPC chips, that market is getting smaller and smaller. I've got two PPC Macs, but they're not used much anymore. Windows XP, though very old, is still the most prevalent version of Windows in use.

I hear ya and understand that...but...Now don't get me wrong here... I love my Apple products. I have a Mac Mini and an iPod Touch that I received for Christmas this year. The Mac Mini is a G4 PPC, and I love it! It has both Tiger and Leopard installed on it. The iPod Touch is an 8GB 3nd Generation model and it is totally awesome! However, Leopard is like running in peanut butter comparatively on the PPC Mac Mini with 32MB video and 1GB RAM on a 1.42Ghz processor. I rarely go to Leopard for that reason. Although, there are programs that will only run there. And because Apple has given up on us, there are an increasing number that will only run on Intel Macs and I am totally out of the running for any of those. However, and I am going to compare Apple to Microsoft in this regard ... Apple gave up on us PPC users only about 3 yrs after they moved to Intel Macs.Microsoft on the other hand still does security updates for Windows XP while other than upgrades for iTunes and maybe Safari (both related to their ability to make money in the iTunes Store btw), Apple has sent NO new updates to Tiger for months ... not even security updates like Microsoft does for a nearly 10 year old OS. And comparing the numbers is not relevant ... Apple has customers out there that need those updates. Customers who maybe with the economy being as it is, can't afford to upgrade right now.So, in this instance, and one of the few instances IMHO, Microsoft is doing much better than Apple. IMHO, Apple could do much better for their customers. And I think people would be surprised at how many PPC Macs are actually out there, BTW.

Apple does have a bit of arrogance in that regard. I haven't upgraded to Snow Leopard because it won't support my 6 year old printer that still works fine. Apple's point of view is technology changes and it's time to upgrade. Because of the huge installed business base, Microsoft can't take the same approach. If they could, they'd rewrite Windows from the ground up instead of keeping legacy support buried in there.

Ah, when it comes down to do business, they all don't give a @!$$% about you at all. You're just a number out of a million, they don't need you at all. They spit on you.Unless you're a business, they then bow graciously and want to do business with you asap. And of course the trainings, support and all of that, that's where the big money is and that's all what counts. The rest is just, well, let's say unnecessary overhead, to roam off that 0,000001 human being out there who just so happens to be interested in some of their gear too. You know, they want it all, to all cost and all price.

Well that is another issue, I can never upgrade to Snow Leopard on the PPC. Another point of annoyance.Yep, sad thing about people who care more for their business bottom line than their customers.
