ozgeek
I am now the proud owner of a new imac with the Leopard O/SIt's a steep learning curve since I've never used this system before. One thing I can't resolve is how to connect to my windows computer and access the printer. I've tried various settings without success. I've checked the "use Samba" box and other obvious things but it's apparently the not so obvious things that are holding me up.I'd appreciate some help with this Thanks !! striker
Jan, what about hooking the printer up to a spare port on the router? If that would be possible, then there would be no need to fiddle with samba.
teacher
I simply have mine setup by using the ip address. You don't need to mess with samba. I simply put in 192.168.1.10 (the ip address for mine) and it identified my printer. It lists it by its serial number but it is the correct printer. ozgeek
Many thanks Julia and Striker for your suggestions.Couldn't make anything work so I've plugged my main printer into the imac, which connected immediately with it. I'll use my secondary printer for Windows and - hopefully- Linux.I'm liking what I've seen so far with the new O/S and I've got a lot of new projects to try. My grey cells are quaking in anticipation
ozgeek
Well, what do you know? I was able to setup Windows to share the Mac printer. Couldn't be happier with my Mac :'(
