Since Apple has released a beta of Safari for Windows users, I'm curious what Mac users prefer as a browser.Other would include browsers like Flock or even some more obscure items found herehttp://darrel.knutson.com/mac/www/browsers.htmlIf you are like me, you have 4 or 5 browsers on your computer but 99% of the time, I fire up my preferred browser. What is the browser you use more than 50% of the time?

I've only used the stock version of safari that came with OSX 10.4.I installed firefox, simply because it is a familiar browser.Adam

I really wanted to try Safari back in my Windows days. I wish Apple would have done this a couple years ago. I've heard really good reviews about Safari.

Eric, you don't want to run Safari in windows.http://www.betanews.com/article/Day_One_fo...mare/1181661606I see I can't edit the poll. Maybe I need to scrap that one and pay attention to what I'm asking. :blink:I was actually trying to find out if Safari was the most popular with Apple users. From what I read, I didn't think so but it wouldn't be the first time I've been wrong.I have 3 or 4 browsers installed on most of my computers and yet I prefer one over the others.

I was surprised Safari wasn't listed as well. But that gives me the opportunity to say that the single reason I use Firefox (compelling reason, that is), is that Firefox has much better features for handling cookies, allowing me to specify which site I want to allow, such as for maintaining log in info for forums, while rejecting the rest. Now I hope someone tells me I missed it in safari, and Safari will be much closer.

I don't love Safari. I prefer many of the features of Firefox. But Firefox on the Mac just isn't that Mac like. And on some of my Macs, it loads very, very slowly. It needs fit and finish work to make it more Mac-like.Camino is the opposite. It has that pure Mac fit and finish work. But it doesn't support extensions. A recent release is intriguing, though. It's finally using the same Gecko engine as Firefox 2. But it doesn't support extensions!Safari's UI isn't great. Its WebKit rendering engine isn't as fast as Gecko. I don't like the look and feel at all, which I think isn't very Mac like. It's even more spartan than Firefox 1.0 was. Apple thinks Safari's look is chic; I think it looks like a faded gray 1973 Chevy Nova. But Safari has three things going for it that make it easy to live with:1. It's already on all new Macs.2. It's good enough and fast enough for government work3. If you subscribe to .Mac, you get sychronized bookmarks, Web logins, and other junk on all your Macs. I know there are Firefox add-ons that purport to do this, but I've yet to find one I like. And Camino doesn't support many add-ons.So I'm a Safari user. But I wish Firefox was more Mac-like; that Camino supported extensions, and that I could find an extension that truly provided bookmark synching without requiring me to set up my own server for this purpose. Finally, to date, all my comments about Safari apply to Safari 3.0 as well. The one thing I would say is that Safari 3's latest beta does feel faster to me than the current shipping version.-- Scot
