Scanning for root-kits

Agent007

Recommended Posts

Those of u with systems connected to the net 24hrs a day, running services like Apache, Sendmail, Squid, PHP etc are recommended to scan ur systems for rootkits in the event of the system being compromised....Unlike a Intrusion Detection System, this scanner does not run in the background. Once installed u have to invoke it manually from the command line. Does a good job! Fast and simple...Package is less than 40kb! Get it here:-http://www.chkrootkit.org/rgds,007

Great topic Agent007!There are root kits for Linux, BSDs, other UNIX based OSes and Windows.I have moved this topic to the Security and Networking where I am sure it will get a full workout B)
