I have done some searching around and it appears that part of the problem may be that a Windows XP computer and iTunes was used to sync with the AppleTV in the past.Upgraded to Windows 7 computer and now iTunes does not see the AppleTV. Other than the addition of the Windows 7 computer (and deletion of the Windows XP computer from the network), the network has not changed. Some folks have said you need to reset the AppleTV, setup the network again, and then look in iTunes and it should see it. Others say that hasn't worked for them and Windows 7 still does not see the AppleTV.Is it necessary to reset and then sync fresh from iTunes to the AppleTV even though all the stuff is already there on AppleTV?It would seem so since the computer that was used to sync originally is no longer there. Has anyone had experience with this.I do not have an AppleTV ... this question is for a friend who recently upgraded to Windows 7.

SOLVED! Yea!They got a new router (Linksys E2000) and they changed from 10. to 192. subnet on the network scheme (don't think that was significant, unless it would be just that it was different from their old scheme and the AppleTV had to re-search for the network). After reinstalling the AppleTV to the new network and setting up the new WPA2 wireless on it, I made sure that Windows 7 was not on a Homegroup. But iTunes still didn't see the AppleTV device. So I searched further in the AppleTV settings and saw it was still 'connected' to the old XP computer (although that computer was not even on the network any longer). I clicked to disconnect that computer and all the data on the AppleTV disappeared as it should. Then we opened iTunes on the Win7 computer and went back to the AppleTV and clicked connect in the AppleTV to connect to a new computer and chose it -- it now saw it and gave us a screen with a code to put into iTunes to 'link' it with the AppleTV. Then we went to the Windows 7 computer's iTunes (which had been open all this time), and saw the AppleTV had shown up on the left side and a link that said to click here to set it up. We clicked it and we entered the code the AppleTV provided. And voila! It started syncing.Takeaways: For simplicity for the first sync, make sure all your music is already in the new computer's iTunes and has already gotten it's album art (and you are signed into your Apple ID account or you won't even be able to get the album art). That first sync will take the longest of course, so you want to be ready.I really think the newer routers do a much better job overall with Windows 7 and devices attached to the network.
