Well, for those that have a laptop with censor enabled for hard drive temperature. Can you post your normal/general temperature? My laptop is going through some hard drive replacement because it keeps operating at 65C (130+F), and the allowable operationg temperature from the hard drive spec is supposed to be between 40C to 55C.When it gets to 65C, the laptop is burning hot. and has tons of Hard drive controller error in EventViewer (EventID 11 Source: Hard Drive).Well, post your stat! So everyone can compare and see what their temperature is. you are welcome to post as well if you have desktop. Just make sure you mention "desktop" or "laptop" Thanks!ThunderRiver

Aida32 reports my motherboard temp as 95 degrees F and my processor temp as 99F. That's after being on for about 14 hours today. One thing that helps is a cooler pad I found through Tiger Direct. It sits under the laptop and pulls the heat down and out via three fans. There's a USB model and an AC version. It's called CyberCooler. Seems to work pretty well. FYI - Toshiba Satellite 2415 / 2.0Ghz / 512Mb / WinXP Pro. I usually don't have more than two or three applications running at once.

Yeah I know those types of cooler, but unfortunately, I didn't choose the brand you suggested. A couple months ago, I bought this one by Bytecc, and it is slanted, so the backend of the laptop is higher than the front end, creating this so called "ergonomics feature". At first, I thought it was a graet feature, but then I started to think that height unbalance causes the hard drive to crashes more often. It seems like if the HDD is not horizontally flat to the table, the chace of having "hard ware controller error occurs more often."What do you guys think? Do you think the ergonomics feature is good or bad?NC-500.JPG

I've never found my laptop to suffer if not laying flat. A slight rise from front to back does seem to provide a more comfortable typing angle for me. Your experience should guide you. The fans SEEM to help, but I'm not sure how much. Warning: the fans on mine are fairly loud. Considering the laptop itself is silent, it's a bit distracting. I had a Compaq that had a defective thermal pad. A free trip to the shop got it fixed, but it always ran hotter that my current Toshiba, not good considering I went from 900Mgz-2.0G and a 10G-40G hard drive. Toshiba deals with the heat issue better.
