Santa brought me this neat little mp3 player by Sly Electronics. It's a model SL014G. Here's the spec page from Sly's website: http://www.slyelectr....php?prodID=179 I received it the other night. After charging it up the required 8 hours (I cheated and charged it only for 4 ), I commenced to transfer my mp3 playlist to the device. I had some problems... 1. Device not recognized by Linux - incorrect file system, improper partition structure, etc. OK, fine... I set it up in Win XP instead. 2. While transferring the playlist, Windows quits and gives an error about not being able to create a file for a certain song. I can only load 1/2 my playlist... about 380M or so. After that, it won't accept anything. Hmmm... it's a 4Gig player. OK, fine again... Being a tech geek, I decided that I didn't like Linux warnings about file systems and partitions being screwed up, so I figured I'd fix that. After all, I have the POWER of THE COMMAND LINE! Feel the FORCE of fdisk and parted, Luke! Using aforementioned fdisk and parted, I deleted the (apparent) four partitions on the mp3 player's flash drive. I recreated only one primary partition and formated it using FAT32. Well, whaddya' know.... it mounts right up in Linux now. I easily transferred my entire playlist without a hiccup in just a few minutes. And now... we be jammin', mon! An you have probably voided your warranty.
