virt-manager shared folder problem

Recommended Posts

I set up a VM with the new Ubuntu Studio but can't get a shared folder to work. I basically did this:

https://xapax.github.io/blog/2017/05/09/sharing-files-kvm.html

But I don't even see that method in the Arch wiki.

The error I get is this:

Error starting domain: internal error: qemu unexpectedly closed the monitor: 2019-04-21T07:24:05.176601Z qemu-system-x86_64: -device virtio-9p-pci,id=fs0,fsdev=fsdev-fs0,mount_tag=vmshare,bus=pci.6,addr=0x0: cannot initialize fsdev 'fsdev-fs0': failed to open '/home/roger/vmshare': Permission denied

Try running modprobe 9pnet_virtio

There are a lot of threads on this if you search virt-mananger cannot initialize fsdev 'fsdev-fs0'

Thanks SB, your search-fu was better than mine and found a couple I didn't. I'll try to get it working later. I think I broke the network driver somehow so may have to work that out as well.

Just learning this virt stuff after VBox for years. I always hated Guest Additions though, and this seems to perform better.
