georgeg4
I am running a HP Compaq dual booting Win 7 and Ubuntu 12.04 and for some reason I cant access my usb devices this problem seemed to start at the same time as some adware that I am having a problem with . Described in a different thread . When I click on my computer thew only thing that shows is the file system no dvd's or usb storage devices or even my computer itself
raymac46
Are you having this problem in Linux, Windows or both?
abarbarian
Sounds like you are having trouble with the Windows 7 side of things. Have you tried booting in SAFE MODE ?

Guest LilBambi
USB ports not working Almost always the USB connections work with Ubuntu. Often there are problems with wireless adapters. So please try to attach some other hardware to your USB connections, for example a USB flash drive (pendrive or stick). However, NetGear WG111v2 is a wireless adapter that is reported to work, at least with older versions of Ubuntu. Look at the following link. https://help.ubuntu.com/community/HardwareSupportComponentsWirelessNetworkCardsNetge ar#USB
