Is "failsafe" in Linux...

...the same as "safe mode" in Windows? :D On the LILO boot screen for Mandrake 9.1, there's a choice for "failsafe", and another for "nonfb"; was wondering what they were for.

Hi Quint,Failsafe checks the syncing of the system ( do not change if you don't know what you're doing ) and gives you the option for graphical or text login ( here is a good option if your X is messed up ) . Also you can choose booting with or without network support, re-configure your videocard and the likes.Nonfb means: no frame buffer, if you got problems with the frame buffer support ( related to the graphical divices ). My advice, don't touch this !If you want to know more about frame buffers, do a google. . . . :)Hope these are the answers you were looking for, :P Bruno
