Spiffy!

Fortunately for me, when I had my little motorcycle spill back in '02, my scapula (shoulder blade) slammed into my two upper ribs and fractured them without damaging the clavicle. Regardless, it was some of the severest pain I'd ever experienced up to that time. Not fun. :(

Yeah fun is not something I have been familiar with since June. :breakfast:

Mind you looking at the CT scans was pretty darn neat.

Now that was a doozy of a fracture . A lateral break . Not an easy fix. When do you get your next ray . By the way how is the bike

I always like to do a grand job. :thudna5: As to bike, see opening post. B)

Finally got around to selling me good old Rebel. I would have put it back on the road but it needed some work and I just do not have the time. An it would be pretty difficult mechanicking with just one arm.

Had tears in me eyes till I saw what it might fetch on good ol e-bay.cool.gif

You still have time to buy if you fancy a winter project.

Sad. :(

I hate being bikeless. This stretch I'm in right now (going on 7 years without a bike) is the longest in my life. :(

Sad indeed I had some great rides round the back lanes in the Lakes. The little old 250 was just the right size for round here.

Silver linning is I got £70 more than I paid for it ten years ago.

Had a turn down to Wales and back on a hired Rebel . Must say it was a very comfortable ride .Even though it was a particularly frosty winter journey . Carried a lot of gear on the back too. That was along time ago.Sigh!!!

Yup the guy turned up as promised on Saturday morning. Dressed in leather trousers with taht fancy lacing down the legs and a jacket with tons of biker patches. looked every inch a bad ass biker.

Turns out he was from Poland been living and making loot here for ten years doing up old bikes to original or turning them into cool custom bikes. Says that the good old Rebel will probably get a full restore and be back on the road..

So that is neato.

Offered him a Clymer manual and a micro fiche showing all the parts and part numbers etc for a £5 so with the £371 that should have been a total of £376. He gave me £380 and told me not to bother with the change.Sweet.

He had two kids in the van and I gave them a packet of Pattersons shortbread, three satsumas and a click together glider toy that I had had pinned to the wall for a few years waiting for the right kids to come around. They looked well pleased.

So a happy parting of the ways.

Loot came in useful to help pay for me move.I did tell you all I had moved on Thursday. didn't I ?

Last post from Cumbria.

Will be a short delay before service resumes.

Hopefully back on line Monday. :bounce:

Ok so it ain't Monday. Been too tired after the move , which ain't finished yet. Never occurred to me to look, when viewing, for a tv ariel on the roof, there is not one, as there were tv cables in the kitchen and living room. Turns out they were connected to a satellite dish box which is no longer there, and I need a terrestrial tv ariel anyway for me Talk Talk TV box. Darn it.

Do I care ? Sort of but not a lot.

As I have decent broadband and can watch all sorts stutter/lag free from the tinternet.

Whoopeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.

Dawn on the very first morning after me very first night in me new spot. Hurriedly taken as it was very early and the two lads hired to help with unloading the vans, had turned up on time :w00tx100: naturally me and the team were still waking up

My excuse, we had worked very hard the day before loading two vans and driving for seven and a half hours. The trip should have taken five and a half hours. Moral of this part of the tale, do not trust sat navs when travelling in Wales.

After taking the vans back to Cumbria on Friday I loaded the Kia up on Sunday and drove down to Wales. I was totally banjaksed as I had squeezed in a trip to York on Saturday. These are pics from me living room which overlooks the eastuary taken during the day on Monday.

How will it all end ?

Same as it does for all of us, I would presume. ;)

So, what's an English bloke who drives a Korean car doing in Wales, eh? :santa:

Hmmm English bloke is a bit of a stretch, more a Yorkshireman. In answer, simple economics. Oh and the thirty or so beaches within twenty-five miles. :breakfast:

Looks like you wound up in a really nice place . I wonder how long it will be before you take to the water .Being as it's at the bottom of your hill .

Hope you will be very happy there . The Welch folk are very interested in anybody who wants to learn the local speak .

That will bypass a lot of glass ceilings

Wish you a lot of happiness and good new friends around you .

Thanks folks. The place needs some decorating and altering tlc and the garden needs a makeover. All which will have to wait until I get me dodgy arm back into full use.

Lucky for me I bought a Steam Controller last summer so I can usefully fill in time and do some physio on me wrists and fingers whilst exercising me grey cell, thank goodness for a well stocked Steam Library.

What a disappointment !!

I remembered that Tenby had a great fish and chip shop from when I was house hunting. As the sun was shining yesterday with a clear sky I thought, why not pop over to Tenby, only 6 miles away, get some super fish and chips and take some pics of the sunset over the ocean.

Well the chip shop was shut till February. I stood on the cliff top looking left and no sunset,

the blooming curve of the bay gets in the way. A whole half hour of me life just frittered away on a goose chase.

So that's what, like $117,000? Yikes, you couldn't get much in the US at that price. Looks good! And, of course, fitting the cat flap takes priority (no snark intended).

Very nice.

I see there is a stair lift which is nice for older folks with a 2 story dwelling. My husband and I are fortunate to live in a one story "ranch" type home. I could host all the holidays and not have to worry about our aging parents getting into and moving around our home.

You do not get much around here either or in any of the nicer and handy sort of places. I could have bought nearly the same further inland into the valleys or up the coast for almost half the price but they did not have the views or the nearness of services. I am pretty lucky and am thankful to me mum and dad, shame they can not be here.

Fitting two more interior cat flaps so his highness can wander at will.

Very nice.

I did try for some one storey dwellings, we call them bungalows. But most were out of my price range and the three derelicts I bid on went for silly money, mind you they had drop dead gorgeous settings and views.

The stair lift, hmmmmmmmmm. Took me a while to figure out how to move it. Made a test run all the way up and down the stairs with an empty chair. Then I took a ride which was very strange due to the corners, most unusual. Tried to move it the next day and it moved nine inches and stopped. I will make time to sort it out someday as it will probably be very useful in the future.

Looks like you did really well for the few quid . Wish you a long and happy sojourn there.

If you ever sail across the seas yer welcome to tea and scones anytime. :breakfast: (as long as you bring a keg of real Dublin Guinness with you)

  • 1 month later...

Saw the specialist consultant at long last last week. X-rays taken and viewed and it looks like my break has healed up nicely. Whooopeee no more worries about another operation etc etc.

Now all I have to do is get all the locked up muscles working again and toned up.

Looks like it will be a decent year no matter what the weather is doing. :breakfast:
