REDMOND, WASHINGTON (The Borowitz Report)—Bill Gates’s first day at work in the newly created role of technology adviser got off to a rocky start yesterday as the Microsoft founder struggled for hours to install the Windows 8.1 upgrade.

That is pretty funny.

Let's give ol' Bill a chance, though. He might do some good for MS. You never know. Can't screw things up as badly as Balmer did, right? ;)

Balmer was not a success for owners of the stock wanting to sell but for the company itself - it made oodles of money and not just on the old stuff.

Just the items relating to Azure and its surroundings was over a billion dollar company.

At this point in time, i don't believe BG will spend more than 100 active hours this year in this new role.

A Microsoft spokesman said only that Mr. Gates’s first day in his new job had been “a learning experience” and that, for the immediate future, he would go back to running Windows 7.

Uh-huh.

Smart move Bill Gates! See Bill will be great for Microsoft!

I still say, there should be two different versions of Windows:

Windows Metro - Pro and RT

Windows Aero - Home, Pro, Ultimate

I love Aero. It was a big mistake to have changed away from Aero on the Desktop computer. They make the best Windows ever in Windows 7 with Aero and they are throwing it away!

You guys do realize that Andy Borowitz is a satire columnist. What he writes is fictional humor like The Onion.

From the tail end of the above article,

In the end, Mr. Gates decided he’ll be happy using Windows 7 for a while longer.

Maybe now he’ll roll up his sleeves and do some serious coding. Of course, the last time he did that he came up with Vista.

Editor’s note: Evidently this last piece didn’t really happen and the New Yorker story is satire. Oops, bad on us. We should’ve known that by now Mr. Gates would have enough experience with Windows 8 to know it to be useless for getting any work done. We thought of merely deleting the item from the article, but decided as satire it perfectly illustrates the problems at Microsoft, so we’re leaving it up. We had a chuckle over it when we believed it really happened, and we’re still chuckling now–although now the joke is partly on us.

Excellent
