I tend to replace mine every 2-3 years with a newer model.

Used laptops are available at bricks and mortar stores in the Ottawa area. They are a bit more expensive in Canada but you can check them out before you buy. These are reconditioned business models. I have not needed to get one as the older machines I have run Linux well enough.

I didn't think you would be interested in buying one. 😁 It's small and tough which is the main requirements for my purposes.

So back in 2015 as I was palletizing like 500 laptops, i thought what would I do with 500 laptops? I would sell them on ebay. Sure enough, the disposal companies for enterprises sell them on ebay. So the standard warranty is 3 years in the enterprise environment. The machines are wiped but they are mostly sitting on a desk connected to a dock so in great condition. Anyway, the last 5 laptops that I have bought came from ebay for less than 200 bucks and then upgrading ram and all, I end up with a 3 year old machine for $300 or less. Just go to ebay and search for "used business class laptops".
