I just dropped in to say Hello. It's been awhile. I turned 86 years old, on Nov 10th. Still going strong and using Linux Mint everyday as my daily driver. A lot of water under the bridge. As I recall I was one of the first users to join the forum. More years ago than I can remember. LoL! Hope everyone has a Happy Thanksgiving.

Welcome back, Mel. Scot's forums have been a durable watering hole for me.

Started in 2003, grew rapidly. Even though I jumped in within months, there

were already 700+ of us at that time. One of many personal benefits for me was

finding a group willing and able to patiently tutor me in my early days migrating

from Windows to Linux. I did need some hand holding. Can't say enough how

very much happier I am as a linux user. Windows overhead, especially security

wise, had become oppressive. I started with Ubuntu but eventually switched

to Mint. It's all around the easiest. I recommend Mint to anyone I'm trying to

get to give linux a try.

BTW I've reached 75 and am still mobile enough to get up on my roofs (2) and

clean the gutters, repair detached tabs on shingles, etc. And this week I came

out of retirement to take on a project for myself- just a quick and dirty rehab

of my carport to enclose it for use as a storage area. I hope to knock it out in

about 2 weeks, part time. Doing what I can to stay fit. I'm still enjoying life

despite all the craziness we've been living through.

Hey Mel....if you reverse your age, that's me.  I turned 68 at the end of August.  To quote abarbarian, "Hope I get to 86 with all me marbles." Here's to your continued good health!   I hope you had a nice Thanksgiving.  And now we can look forward to Christmas....  Take care.

I found your website interesting, Mel. I'm a hands on kind of guy myself, but it took the form of

a radio electronics hobby, some 61 years now. I love to design and build gear. RV'ing looks like

a lot of fun! Many of the radio amateur operators who RV take their radios along with them. And

there is also an interesting sub group of them who like to 'operate QRP'. This means voluntarily

limiting transmitter output power to 5 watts or less. (Normal is around 100W).

I did some limited tent camping in my Boy Scout days, enjoyed it always. But RV'ing brings it

to a higher level of comfort for sure. Must be really neat to scout out all those parks all over the

west!
