Nah, that is something different altogether. This was simply a telenet server that had one function, stream star wars in ASCII art.

Think of telnet as a simplistic ssh server or a simple interactive terminal server.

I do too.

Unfortunately the telnet link never connects to the site these days. However you can watch the movie here,

 

https://www.asciimation.co.nz/#

 

Although you can stop,start,go back or forward on the ascimation site I do not think it is as neat as watching it in your terminal. 😎

Copy the link and paste it in Lynx.  Read what it says upper left corner.  So grab a comfortable chair, have food and drink handy and wait for the film to start...

Yeah I tried that. Got lynx,figured out how to bring up the link, then it shows the opening of the show but never fully loads or starts. 😧
