Your right, don't take it too seriously, as we don't know many votes were tallied, and we'll never know how many linux users DIDN'T vote.  I know I didn't, cuz I wasn't aware of the poll. 

 

But it's interesting to me that some of the top choices (by voters) won with only 20%-30% of the vote.  Speaks to the fragmentation and plethora of choices on Linux.  And some of those choices won with 60%-70% of the vote, speaking to their DOMINANCE, despite the varying alternative choices.  I don't think it's a coincidence those dominant winners tend to be some of the oldest and most polished software, with the biggest variety of features.

Yup. Those annual polls have been going on at LQ.org for years. The results are sometimes interesting to see. LQ has a heavy Slackware presence, though, so some slant in the polls may result.
