sunrat Posted November 25, 2014 Posted November 25, 2014 http://news.siductio...ction-2014-1-3/ Indian Summer is shipped with six desktop environments: KDE SC, XFCE, LXDE, LXQt, GNOME and Cinnamon, all in 32- and 64-bit variants. Besides those desktop environments we also include noX, which is an environment without X. There is, last, but not least, an image that listens to the name of Xorg and it features the minimal window manager Fluxbox on top of X. I'm looking forward to trying the new LXQt version, and maybe try btrfs. Homerun, newly included in KDE, looks interesting too. My main siduction install will not be replaced as it still works well. Rolling release rocks! 3 Quote
securitybreach Posted November 25, 2014 Posted November 25, 2014 Awesome, I'll have to check it out. Quote
securitybreach Posted November 25, 2014 Posted November 25, 2014 2 minute download of the kde version...not bad 1 Quote
sunrat Posted November 26, 2014 Author Posted November 26, 2014 Took me a whole 6 mins to download the LXQt iso. I'm 12,000 kms from GaTech servers though, so electrons may be a bit slower than from the US. Quote
securitybreach Posted November 26, 2014 Posted November 26, 2014 Well I also have a 120/22 connection Quote
sunrat Posted November 26, 2014 Author Posted November 26, 2014 Screenshot of LXQt version in VBox. It has a nice selection of light programs and is very responsive. Shutdown happens in the blink of an eye. 1 Quote

Guest LilBambi Posted November 26, 2014 Posted November 26, 2014 Yes, that looks great! May have to try that one next month when I have a new rollover for data! Quote
Capt.Crow Posted November 27, 2014 Posted November 27, 2014 Sunrat That w/paper looks like the one on Slack14. I just noticed because I turned on the Slack-box here today just to keep the batteries up. Quote
agaida Posted December 3, 2014 Posted December 3, 2014 And for those of us who consider that released versions are far outdated - there is the current development of lxqt in the extra/experimenal repository of siduction - including two kf5 libs and the newest bleeding LXQt stuff - as i said, it may be a little bit buggy (not more then the release) - but in heavy development. It may kill kittens, but run so far great on my main machine. Ermh - DISCLAIMER: Don't try this at home unless you really know what you are doing, because there can and will be faults in both source (http://github.com/lxde/lxqt/issues) and packaging. A VM with snapshots will be a good idea to start with. 1 Quote
securitybreach Posted December 4, 2014 Posted December 4, 2014 Hello Agaida, welcome to the forums!! Quote
sunrat Posted December 4, 2014 Author Posted December 4, 2014 Welcome agaida, it's an honour to see you here. LXQt definitely has potential to become a premium lightweight desktop. I plan to set up a VM to try the extra/experimental version soon. For those unaware, agaida is a core siduction developer and maintains the LXQt and NoX versions. 1 Quote

réjean Posted June 8, 2015 Posted June 8, 2015 (edited) Welcome agaida! Glad you joined us.It's always good to see new faces and interests. I thought I had a fairly decent internet speed connection but it's gonna take me at least 28 min to download mine from; http://mirror.lug.udel.edu/pub/siduction/iso/indiansummer/lxqt/ but I don't mind waiting. sunrat Posted June 9, 2015 Author Posted June 9, 2015 Tell us how you go with LXQt, rejean. I have only installed it in VBox so far, but my siduction KDE has been running beautifully for 18 months or more. It was December version, the one before Indian Summer, and has been continuously updated. Quote
réjean Posted June 16, 2015 Posted June 16, 2015 Sorry Sunrat! I've been so busy with 3 or 4 projects at high school, community center, local museum plus our own gardens and the coming farmer's market that I haven't have time trying agaida's project yet. I have it downloaded somewhere and will sure give it a try when I can. Quote
