Network Icon in System Tray Does not appear

I just performed a reinstall of Windows XP and installed my applications. I have my LAN connection set to show the network icon in the system tray. However, the icon does not appear on start up. It will appear if I go into the Network connections page though. Any ideas?

Disable the icon and reboot. Then go in and enable the show icon and reboot again. Might be a driver issue though. If this does not work remove and reinstall the NIC.

Yes you can do this.1. Right Click "My Network Places" (which is on the desktop) and click properties.2. Double Click "Local Area Connection".3. Put the check mark on the check box that states "Show icon in notification area when connected".4. Click Ok.lan.jpgThis should solve your problem.
