I'm back (http://forums.scotsnewsletter.com/index.php?showtopic=59742entry365001).

This morning the CentOS5.8 rebooted itself for reasons unknown.

Worse , it would not boot, got an error of File 15 file does not exist.

Booted up with a LiveCD , mounted sda1 to /mnt/custom and sure enough:

Anyone have

that they can ftp to me so I could put them in the root directory of sda ?

I have CentOS 6.2 and looked for your files but I cannot see them (even after checking the "show all files").

Then I tried Josh's link just for the fun of it but I got;

got the system running again by doing an install of 5.8 (or .9 hard to tell) from a DVD which prompted that it found a linux os on the drive and did i want to update it. Still took some manual work after that (grub was not changed even though installation said it was) and pc is running & serving.
